West Natomas Development could destroy Garden Hwy neighborhood and way of life.

A mega-development project (Upper Westside) is being proposed right in our backyard along the Garden Highway. This proposed development includes 9,300+ new apartments and homes, 3 million square feet of commercial space, a high school with a lighted stadium and a community college.

If approved, this development will be one of the largest urban infill projects in the country and forever change the Garden Highway, including eliminating precious open space, threatening wildlife and our river ecosystem, and creating major new traffic and safety concerns for residents, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Garden Highway residents have joined with community leaders to organize opposition to this mega-development. To ensure your voice is heard and to learn more about what is being done and how you can get involved, we invite you to attend an upcoming community meeting:

RD1000 to remove vegetation without environmental review- despite the presence of endangered species

According to a letter (Link Below) dated May 23, 2022 from the Sierra Club to RD1000's manager Kevin King and Board, RD1000 may be illegally flouting laws governing environmental protection and endangered species in their attempt to remove vegetation on Garden Hwy- home to multiple listed and endangered species.
